Pros

Great work culture and very reasonable working hours. As BP is so big, lots of different areas to get involved with. Generous pay package for engineering roles in the UK, with a 20% flex allowance on top of your base pay essentially meaning that your base pay is effectively upwards of £46,000 as a graduate. Bonuses can be earned on top of that too. Opportunities to travel and work abroad as BP have a lot of office and sites around the world.

Cons

Pay may not be as lucrative as finance or consulting companies nor would progression. Graduate programmes lasts typically for 2 or 3 years depending on the programme you're on. As such, you may be on one project for a year or longer, which if you're not enjoying, can be frustrating.

Pros

Supportive team environment with good learning opportunities and exposure to large-scale projects. Compensation and benefits are competitive, and the company offers strong brand recognition and career development resources.

Cons

Decision-making can be slow due to layers of management, and processes sometimes feel overly bureaucratic. Workload and priorities can shift quickly, which may create stress depending on the team.
