Pros

Smart coworkers. Good pay for new graduates.

Cons

Out of touch leadership. I think they have been out of touch for awhile, but our COVID-19 really brought it to light. Long hours. They will keep piling on work until you are either work terrible hours or are missing deadlines. It is possible to create a good balance, but it is hard. Career growth options are mediocre.

Pros

Travel, some smart people. End users really need help. There are some aspects of the software that help patients.

Cons

Epic puts you on a project as early as 1 week into your job. You would then be working with Subject Matter Experts (many of whom are not happy to be installing Epic) and you are expected to be the EXPERT on Epic Software. It’s really insane how people trust this company with implementations. Horrible company culture. People are getting fired for not wanting to work during COVID. Judy runs this place like a CULT. Your manager is someone who thinks they are very smart but most likely couldn’t work at a good consulting company and are just a manager because they report to higher people getting promoted. HORRIBLE STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

Pros

Good benefits, Beautiful Campus, Great Food. You get to work on software that has a tangible impact on the health of people all over the world.

Cons

Epic's response to COVID as it related to their employees has been down right dangerous. Upper management has very little connection to development teams and therefore has no idea what a realistic timeline for development is. I was asked to have net new functionality deliverable to customers in a matter of days after the project was started. Team leads also are able to do very little to advocate for their team members. The CEO often dictates whatever she feels is best and everyone just has to deal with the consequences.
