Pros

Great co workers Great training Great tips For the most part, great clients

Cons

They are too willing to sacrifice staff safety in order to make more money. If a guest is drunk or high, he/she will be sent back with you. If the guest is on her cycle and refuses to follow the policy for such, you still have to wax her despite how unsafe that is. You want to wear a mask during a service? Too bad. Just because they supply them doesn't mean you're allowed to use them. It doesn't look nice. Extremely low pay and low commission for all the work you do. They treat the waxers like machines. If you have a full, back to back book and you get a walk-in 5 minutes before your next reservation, it doesn't matter if the other guest had made a reservation, she has to wait and be told "we're running behind" which only looks bad on the waxer. The 9-minute late policy is never honored, thus making you scramble to get all your services done on time. Bi-weekly meetings are a joke. You literally sit for an hour reading aloud what could have easily been sent in an email. Actually, all of it is available on the company database. Managers purposely mess with schedules, etc to be spiteful and catty sometimes.

Pros

It's corporate policy to only do 6 hour shifts, which is amazing! It's great pay for the little amount of hours you work. You meet so many new clients and have the opportunity to build great relationships and clientele. I've made such amazing friendships with all of my co-workers.

Cons

Its extremely hard on your body and management does not really take into consideration how much your body hurts when they are scheduling you to work more hours than normal. Around holidays they schedule you so many extra hours its ridiculous. Since every center is a franchise, sometimes the owners don't follow corporate policy and it confuses us on how to do our job the way we are supposed to. it is virtually impossible to get days off for vacation, all shifts must be covered, and even if they're covered, you may not get it approved. It's also almost impossible to call out if you are sick, management gives you such a hard time. Even when your numbers are above where they should be, it's never good enough for management.

Pros

I absolutely loved the training I received. It was extremely intense and at times I wanted to cry, but it really prepared me for the job. I loved the wax, the "comfort wax process" and the other waxes I worked with. I also loved (when I had the chance to) chatting and getting to know guests- especially the people that ended up becoming my regulars. They wanted to see me because I took my time and truly cared about their experience and their results. I also love creating beautiful eyebrows on amazing girls (and some men of course). I believe waxing can be artistic and it brought me such joy creating art. But more than anything, I absolutely adore making people feel good about themselves. There is no better feeling for me.

Cons

So along with the fast paced atmosphere came a lot of problems- having only 15 minutes to do a Brazilian was absolutely insane! I always felt rushed and even worse, my guests felt like I was the one that wanted them out of my room. when truly, I only had a few minutes to get them in the room, undressed, cleaned, waxed, talked to about products and monthly appointments, clothes back on out the door and onto the next guest. I very much felt like I was just a number on a paper and if I couldn't do things in a robotic, rushed, way I was useless to them. I know for a fact that guests liked me because 1. they told me and the Guest Service Associates (receptionists) they did and 2. I actually wanted them to be comfortable and get the most out of their experience. Its like EWC could care less about this- unless you sell a lot and speed through their appointment- and even then- I never felt like I did what they wanted and had a secure job. I truly did enjoy working there because I loved what I did and the people I worked with and the guests I got to meet. But looking back now, I deserved more than what I was given. I worked my butt off- yet didn't get paid enough. And I don't mind fast-pace, but when I had to run, sweat, not use the restroom, not talk to guests about how their day was, and literally did not stop moving my whole entire body for sometimes hours at a time, it was too much. I also only met the owners once and any time I had a problem, suggestion, and/or question, it was never dealt with- and again I was treated like just a number on a piece of paper. I know I am not just making this up, because every single other person I worked feels/felt the same way I do/did. Id also like to point out that I got laid off- without a single reason at all- this happened the same day as two other girls. Come to find out, almost everyone I worked with at the time, either quit, or more so got laid off as well- with no reason- even the top girls and managers.
