Pros

Product & waxing discounts, great training program, supportive trainers, good franchisee (if you're lucky)

Cons

High expectations for low pay. I understand they're trying to "brand" themselves but the high standards in customer service and appearance isn't worth the $9-$10 per week. If you're looking for a part time job and willing to settle for less than what you're worth or feel defeated and need money, go for it (been there done that) but never give up on yourself and push for a better job with better pay if you can. It's not your fault if the company has a high turnover rate because at the end of the day, corporate makes the most money and that's all they'll care about.

They will burn you out.

Pros

It is really easy, repetitive work if you can catch on quickly enough. If you are lucky enough to get hired into a well run center, you will make some pretty decent money. Every center is different, but our center has a really baller pay structure when it comes to bonuses and meeting their standards. I have worked here 3 years and I have 2 weeks of PTO, can't hate that. Mind you, not every center offers this.

Cons

Every center is different, as much as corporate preaches "constancy". So you might get really awesome managers, or you might be up a creek without a paddle. We have a few centers in my city and some of them are a total nightmare. You wont know until you get there. My cons are mostly with the joke of rules corporate likes to implicate. Everything is scripted, they expect you to be so pushy with sales, if you're not on a coast line your store simply does not exists unless it is for something negative. Any negativity your invisible store has eventually wears out your manager who is probably breaking their back trying to put you on corporates radar (positively) and they eventually just get so burned out that it doesn't even matter anymore. I feel like all of the "inland" stores are corporates unwanted step children, they pay us little to no attention unless it is to scold us. If you are planing to become a waxer, I wish you the best of luck in your journey through the levels. The amount of services you have to do in 15 minutes is extremely difficult. I have seen so many wonderful waxers get burned out, or go on leave for developed hand problems. OH, there are also no benefits. Which is a joke considering how large EWC actually is. That a lone makes me feel like corporate is so cheap, and values us so little they can't even invest in some health care to keep us here longer. Some other cons would be pay period to weekend hours structure. The pay period was recently just changed to Sunday-Saturday. Why? So we can be worked both weekend days without being thrown into over time (mind you, most centers are open 8-6 on the weekend), so there goes any weekend life you may have wanted. The guests are mind blowingly rude. If you can not handle being cussed out multiple times a week because people don't know how to show up on time, this is not for you. There is no room to grow unless you decide to become a manager or open a center yourself and the turn over rate for employees AND managers is just terrible. Honestly, I used to love this place. I saw so much potential in my sales and the "brand", I was top 3 in the state 10+ times. Now a days, I can barely drag myself through the door.

Pros

Scheduling is perfect if you're a student, commission is great if you are good at sales, and the guest are amazing.

Cons

EWC is everything that is wrong with retail today. They have a habit of treating their loyal staff like they treat their bad staff. They only see you as a number not as a human being, they watch your every move and if you forget one tiny bit of information you are written up. They look for reasons to keep writing you up, and give the nonproductive employee's second chances. They make racial sly racist jokes, that go undocumented and gossip about everyone. Upper management treats you like dirt, and always has a condescending response when you bring up an issue. I am so glad I put in my notice I couldn't work there another month.
