Neither a tech company or a fashion company

Pros

So much bureaucracy that it is relatively easy to do nothing if you wish

Cons

A lot of middle management and bloat given the company hasn't been around very long. Many employees don't even know who to escalate topics to as there is no clarity around job scope or accountability with cross-functional departments. Leadership seems to lack a clear strategy or connection with the day-to-day of their product. Communication is not transparent across the organization. Poor processes and inefficiencies are particularly acute for Tech and Product. There is so much tech debt, fragile cloud-based infrastructure and lack of process that a critical feature could take years to be delivered - and when it finally is released, it's done so in the least user-friendly way possible (and likely with bugs!). Recent re-orgs have put all of the investment into positions in Portugal and Brazil, yet all of the recent brand partners are American. There is a complete disconnect with how the market operates or level of expectation required to work in the market. Leadership has little familiarity with luxury, retail, fashion or beauty... yet it positions itself as a marketplace for these products and wants to build SAAS products to service them.

Lies about pay

Business Outlook

Pros

Office is nice. People are nice, considering they have no idea what’s happening.

Cons

The recruiter lied about my salary when I joined. No bonus because the company was doing poorly. Didn’t matter what I did. I started looking elsewhere. Management told me they would match that salary so I declined the other job, then they refused to raise my pay.

Pros

The benefits are pretty good, but payment ain't. Also the costumers are pretty easy to deal with. At least in the German and Spanish area.

Cons

The trainer is more concerned in sharing "fake" Hollywood stories and trying to be funny to get aprovement then actually get to the point. Be aware you might not survive the onbording if you don't play along. Happend before. If you pass that, you have to deal with the TLs. Team leaders are totally clueless, but walk like stars just because they work for farfetch. This is specially the case if they on board since the beginning. Once there was downtime that went for 2-3, some TL that was next to us had the nerve to ask what was going on, after 3 hours. You have to deal with superficial people and share fake love otherwise you get marked, and will get fired. You can be the best on your team. It really doesn't matter at all. So be prepared for that. Oportunities to grow are pretty non existent, so don't even think about that. Unless you willing to go the extra mile. See previous point. Other additional caveat might be the system itself. Just poor and slughish. For an IT company, kinda impressive. Also in high season you will be non stop on the phone with just 1min wrap up time after a call like it was farfetch 2008. Manageable, but totally non sense. In the end, I resigned, happily!
