Hard work; little appreciation.

Pros

Good hotel benefits for properties worldwide. Great product, hotels are beautiful and pleasant environments to work in. Staff on the whole have a good work ethic - until they burn out or become demoralized.

Cons

Overworked, under appreciated. The work is stressful, intense, & demanding. Schedules are often unreasonable. The company has become large and the " culture " of Four Seasons Hotels has diluted as they grow. In many properties they no longer seem to practice their " Golden Rule "; that their employees are their greatest attribute. Now the owners of each individual property can call the shots. Everyone is replaceable, and you see that too often.

Pros

-Strong corporate culture of caring about associates and guests -Best in the industry - strong name to have on CV/resume -Focused on growing from within and have strong succession planning -Excellent internal training programs - huge focus on development -Firm open-door policy - from top-down managers always open to speaking with others -Extremely approachable Corporate Executives who make the time for all associates -Best company philanthropically have ever worked for -Opportunity to transfer internationally ----- As reference, worked at 3 different hotels in 2 countries

Cons

-Some properties' training, salary, and culture are stronger than others -They know people want to work for them, and therefore negotiating salaries can be challenging -Sometimes got perception that they had such a clear view on which department/area/region you "should" move to next, that didn't consider own desires as much. (However, they at least had vision for employees and managers who wanted to progress whereas other companies don't.) -It's the hotel industry - hours for managers dependent on who's in and when so work life balance can be a challenge
