Pros

A lot of the people who work there are excellent at what they do, and are very nice people. There are some nice perks like free drinks and snacks, gym membership, and fairly regular company events.

Cons

It seemed that people were dismissed left, right and centre, leaving you questioning your position in the company. One person left, and anyone they worked closely with would leave a week later. I feel sorry for the new people who come into the company not knowing what they are about to experience. The company used to be excellent, and then it turned to rubble. There is a real lack of “culture”. Employees were made to spread word about how good the company is, which was embarrassing considering many of them didn’t like the CEO’s attitude to pretty much everyone. He treated employees like servants and continually humiliated not only women in general, but women in the company. General mocking, teasing and snide and dirty comments were made, and an atmosphere littered with gossip gave this workplace a horrid smell. A lot of the immature employees take after the CEO’s juvenile behaviour. Nothing substantial was done to alleviate bullying and the CEO sometimes shouted at employees in a threatening manner, said personally hurtful things, or talked about people behind their back. It’s insulting that so much money is wasted by the company on useless gadgets and ugly wallpaper, and very little is done to reward employees who have worked so hard for the better part of a few years. Hard workers will receive low salary and never receive a pay rise. Management never understood a “training budget” and cared very little about employees learning anything, treating them like virtual robots. Watching the CEO spend money on a grand piano and a large handful of colour-changing light bulbs was disgusting.

Pros

The best reasons to work at Freelancer are all gone. The best and the smartest have left.

Cons

The technology stack is unmaintainable. Poor architectural vision has resulted in a "distributed monolith". If you take a role here, you will not work on new or interesting technical problems. Instead you will merely inherit projects which have a huge knowledge gap as everyone that ever worked on them has now left. Your career path or goals are unimportant. Do not expect regular reviews. On the up side, hang around and eventually your superiors will quit or be fired, which may result in a "promotion". Salary is well below market/industry rates. If you're currently working at Freelancer, shop around you can easily get a 20-30% pay bump elsewhere.

Pros

Honestly, I can't think of one. But seeing as I have to write 20 words I suppose that some of the people were ok.

Cons

This list is too long to fit in here. In a nutshell, this is the most disorganised, fearful, hopeless, witless, frustrating company that I've ever seen the inside of. Somebody was fired or left ever second day, seriously. The turnover of staff was shocking. These clowns seem to think that they're actually of a high standard in their product and their methodology. All I can say is that they must be completely ignorant, as well as disorganised, to think that way. If you have no other options, then ok, fine, consider joining. But if you're of any ability and can work somewhere else, do so. Also, please note that the reason that the rating of this company is so high in here is because actually Freelancers (i.e: people who work in the platform rather than with the company) are writing reviews. All of the actual employees of Freelancer have left similar reviews to this one.
