Progression is in your hands and your hands only - if you’re lucky enough to have a supportive manager, great, but even then, they’re very limited to how much control or power they have over their reports career progression and development. Literally had a manager say to me that they’ll put me on a development action plan, but can’t guarantee that it’ll go anywhere.
