Pros

If you’re beginning your media career, Future is a great company to join. It has some amazing brands across print, digital and the web. The company culture invokes a silicon-valley start-up feel: hard working, passionate and with free food. If you’re young and don’t have dependants, it’s an amazing place to work and to learn. Latterly, through acquisition, the firm has grown too.

Cons

Future is also a great company at which to end your career. Like silicon-valley start-ups it’s profits come at the expense of job security, pay and prospects. Agile means getting two people to do the job of five; lean means no budget; efficiency means constant reorganisations and round after round of redundancies. Meagre margins mean the company is forever looking for innovative ways to do more with less. Bottom line: If you’re young, join and learn. If you’ve got kids, the lingering spectre of redundancy eventually becomes unbearable. Whatever your age, keep your CV fresh at all times.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to write a review here - we really appreciate it. Your positive feedback is warmly received and we think its great that our working environment is attractive for ambitious junior talent. We're sorry to hear that you felt your job-security was at risk as the company constantly evolves to stay ahead of the curve. We are very honest with the fact that we move quickly and we need to always be cost-effective and innovative but we would not want this to come at the expense of people feeling secure in their role and engaged in the work they are doing. Thank you for your feedback on this matter. We recently introduced a new company-wide profit share scheme so that every single one of our employees has the opportunity to share in our success and that recognises everyone's hard work contributes to our bottom line. We have recently acquired two businesses and are excited to add these new brands to our portfolio. We are always looking ahead and hope that all of our team are on the journey with us and feel engaged in the roles they are doing.

Pros

Everyone works hard, people are helpful. Magazine teams do great stuff

Cons

Crazy workloads I.T department has zero budget everyones machine and software is 5+ years old Poor outlook, zero investment in staff Dead end job prospects There's been a steady stream of senior management joining and quiting or being pushed out. Contrary to HR replies given on here, staff morale is extremely low, longer serving staff have had dubious contract negotiations affect them.

Thanks for your response - we appreciate the feedback. We're all about hard work and dedication to our brands here at Future, and our people are our top priority. Future has successfully transitioned from a print publishing business to a global, multi-platform media business. This has taken a lot of flexibility and has, of course, meant for some changes to the overall structure of the team. Innovation is at the core of what we do and the people in the team need to reflect this in order for us to achieve on our strategy. We're heavily investing in resource across the business; however, it's key to note that we are always conscious of where and how we are best investing. On the back of our recent annual conference, it's great to see how engaged employees are - there really is a lot of excitement for the possibilities that the next year brings, both for individual employee development and our larger strategic goals. We're always at pains to make sure our staff are as involved in high-level decisions as possible and, as such, we're keen to receive constant feedback from current and former employees. Please do get in touch to share with us your thoughts in a little more detail. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Future is proud to have passionate colleagues who love what they do. It's because of this that we are doing well in the market. However, to remain competitive in a tricky marketplace, we need to constantly evolve. We appreciate all the handwork of our staff and it's because of this that we're able to remain flexible. We're constantly working to engage our employees across the business so we welcome any feedback to help us in this. People are our top priority.
