Pros

Some fully remote roles Decent enough holiday time but difficult to tell the actual amount for sure - it's not unlimited. Opportunities to internally freelance on interesting, niche brands

Cons

- Very hard driving. It's all about driving success to shareholders at any cost - It feels more like working for corporate America than a British publisher is useful to know - Sudden restructures and layoffs are rife, it's like it's part of the company strategy - Some good people but it's a weary environment where no one seems to be having a nice time in their job at all -Lots of stress and burnout -Lack of new employee onboarding: I think I was straight into the CMS first day. Never received much company support overall but expected to continuously hit targets. - Rather than hire new people, they often pull existing staff onto other projects without warning - Lack of employee care in general such as progression, learning and development - Can be pulled up for taking too much holiday time when it's within normal boundaries - Salaries vary but some are nowhere near enough to cover the impact this business can have on your mental health. It acts like a U.S company but it doesn't pay like one. - You are not a human being at Future, you're a number on a spreadsheet churning out "success" - but it doesn't matter how you perform. Numbers get cut. Rinse, repeat.

Pros

Did a decent job taking care of folks during the pandemic -- hardship fund, covering home equipment costs, etc. Better to be acquired by Future than some vulture PE firm, in most cases. Seem to believe in content and the need for a good tech stack. Initial attempts to address pay disparities/low pay. Work-life balance was OK.

Cons

Chose the worst of remote/hybrid -- letting many employees become remote while arbitrarily making others come into an office. Opened an office in Atlanta and pressured people to relocate, then closed that office and the DC one abruptly. No real system for manager-employee conversations, performance reviews, career pathing or anything other than base-level salary increases. Seemingly little assessment of acquired companies for why they needed to be acquired -- i.e. bad, overwhelmed or toxic leaders who need to be removed. The previous CEO was great personally, but mistook her considerable presence for a corporate culture. Combine that with suppressing acquired company culture (good or bad), and it's easy to feel like you work with strangers. I hear they're trying to fix this, which is a start. Constant turnover among ELTs and HR. Hard to know who to go to or to keep momentum going. No offboarding process. I had to make multiple requests of HR and payroll to get things done, instead of the other way around, often correcting their mistakes.

Pros

Large network of clients and offices around the world

Cons

Horrible sense of company culture, terrible leadership from C-Suite. Negative attitudes all around. Alarming notes from the CEO every week - no budget for team bonding or fun company activities. Really unhappy with the overall parent company of Future and no one wants to listen to everyone's opinions and change things. Really disappointing.
