      Pros

      Lots of individual freedom in work. Friendly coworkers. Very interesting industry to witness firsthand. The company is pretty upbeat in that they are constantly looking for ways to improve.

      Cons

      Slow pace of work, which can be good or bad for some. The company is in a state of change, because of the changing market, which makes for some hectic conditions at times.

      Pros

      Challenging work supporting the Production Dept keeping the plant running even thought every new improvement over the last several years was poorly engineered and presents more of a bottleneck when completed than an improvement.

      Cons

      The kings think their clothes are beautiful. They have no in house engineering or controls engineers to to provide improvements or updates for the plant. They almost never update their plant or process drawings after the initial purchase of equipment. What they have called engineering is only project management of capital projects with engineering being accomplished by the vendor only. There is no seasoned engineering staff, nothing but a bunch of trainees. Management here blames the Union for its problems but its the Union workers that have been keeping this place going in spite of the poor management.

      Pros

      All the good things about this company are a thing if the past. Since ameristeel was bought out there has been total disregard for employees. It won't be long until Gerdau closes up shop in North America.

      Cons

      The absolute worst job & company I have ever worked for in my entire life. I wouldn't recommend working at Gerdau to anyone. If you are here looking for a job, then keep looking.
