The company is going through a tough time and management is struggling. The firm went from a being a company where employees observed that senior management's actions spoke to their words, they believed in the firm and the team they nurtured. As the company has grown, the sense of family has slowly disappeared. The management style went from an engaged, all hands on deck mentality to one of "what's in it for me?" style of leadership. In recent years, prior to the recent downturn the corporate office grew exponentially and in turn "fiefdoms" were created as new departments grew like wildfire. Granted, the company as a whole doubled in size since 2004 but the growth at the corporate office was unsustainable and bewildering. In an effort to define processes and implement "controls", the firm as a whole has become weighted down with a level of bueracracy that limits innovative thinking and reactions. The working environment had become so political in nature that it was no longer a joy to come to work.
