      Pros

      At one time this was the Chaparral Steel mill, the largest and most profitable mini steel mill in the world.

      Cons

      Gerdau is a Brazilian owned company. They have their vision, which over the past 3 years has been to replace as much management as possible with people from Brazil. The mill now operates at 40-60% of capacity. Compensation was great at one time but over the past 7 years has gone downhill. Every Year, at least twice a year, there was a purge of 5-10 people in IT. This year in July of 2017, it was massive.

      Pros

      Good People to work with in the office environment. Work load is sufficient to keep you busy, but not overwhelming. Many locations across the U.S.

      Cons

      Upward Mobility in Estimating does not exist. Starting Pay is not very high. Upper management does not communicated well to the every-day employee. Possible Buy-Out by a competitor in the near future.

      Health Benefits are Great for Employees

      Cons

      Massive Corruption at the grass roots level with Mill Employees because teams at almost all levels work in silos. While Upper Management has made strides in correcting this, where the corruption lies there is massive resistance to change and conduct business in an ethical manner masked by further dishonesty.
