Pros

Working at Google was a dream job and worked with plenty of really amazing people . The perks were great of course especially with top salary until it wasn't.

Cons

(Bar a few) incoming management from big corp structure struggled on how to move the needle because they brought an undesirable top-down approach which, by all accounts, is almost always ineffective. They also brought more bureaucracy and a heavy authoritarian approach. Were generally more concerned about their own advancement and skilful at pointing fingers instead of taking accountability.

Impersonal and challenging culture that is driving fear. Constant layoffs. Very slim promotion opportunities which leads to a self-promotion culture. Base salaries are on the lower end. Work life balance is spoken about, but the pressure from management makes it impossible.
