      Tech is great… culture terrible,, Going downhill rapidly. Most want out.

      Pros

      Stock is pretty good which supports the lower than market base salary. See cons though.

      Cons

      Significant comp plan changes each year and has a massive impact year on year to how you get paid. This years changes have had a significant impact on bonuses - downwards. It’s probably not even legal…it’s that bad. - tried for promotion three times and practically no chance despite good grad. - new UK management are the worst, wrong focus, lack of vision, asked to make up numbers to suit forecasting metrics etc. - forced to focus on products that won’t deliver on numbers - general chaotic madness.

      Historically best compensation and benefits in the industry Brilliant, often empathetic co-workers Great (albeit rapidly diminishing) brand to have on your resume

      Cons

      Executive leadership is extremely political and not to be trusted. Innovation is mostly historical at this point. Vaunted "psychological safety" is long-gone, replaced by mealy-mouthed platitudes, devoid of any real meaning or principles.

      Great benefits and incredibly intelligent people. The compensation is beyond amazing!

      Cons

      Management plays favorites and there are a ton of politics. There is significant work that needs to be done from a cultural perspective in Google Cloud. During COVID, management indicated that if the Google Cloud team didn't hit their numbers there will be "blood on the streets." That should be a indicator of the type of culture you would be dealing with. You can Google it, it was literally in the NY Post. Although the pay is phenomenal, your mental health can be impacted by working here.
