Cons

- NO HOURS I literally did not work for the last month and a half of my employment because we were "renovating" and "not getting enough clients" -when I went in to quit the renovations were finished and the girl they had hired a month ago was working -they basically replaced me without telling me -general managers do absolutely nothing (I saw my Gm do THREE haircuts my entire time working -they LIED about giving me benefits -NO continuing education like they promised -at the first interview I was told I was going to be getting 27-35 hours a week. also a lie

Pros

They are almost always desperate, so they will hire anyone with a license- and sometimes without. So this job is great for recent beauty school graduates! They will train you and will have you cutting hair within days, so the customers will give you plenty of practice when you're learning how to cut hair. Needless to say, you will have more experience in 6 months working here, than anyone else in your graduating class to start out. It's also an hourly pay. So you can sit around without any hair cuts for an hour or take 4 haircuts within an hour, and get the same exact pay.

Cons

* the CEO made a speech at a convention for all of the franchisees and managers to write fake reviews online in order to draw in more applications.. The reviews that sound too good to be true- are. * They time your haircuts and strictly enforce it. They expect you to do 15 minute cuts and multiple per hour but with a base pay of the minimum wage (or a little bit above it), no matter how hard you work (no commission on your services- even if you do a perm- which is time consuming- you get paid the same pay.-- they will mention a 'productivity' bonus as an incentive, which they compare to commission, however it never amounts to hardly anything in your pay checks). The scheduling is inconsistent. They expect you to work every weekend (they will lie about this during your interview) and a minimum of two nights per week (they close at 9pm). And every week your schedule is different (they hate set schedules) not only that, but they love changing the schedules last minute and expect you to show up regardless of how last minute the changes occur. The franchisees are very greedy and will rip you off of your vacation pay (which is one of the very few benefits of the job- they have done this multiple times to different stylists in the short amount of time that I have worked for them), cut your hours, try to force you to quit once they realize you are of no use for them (they DO NOT want to pay unemployment, so they will try to frame you into doing something wrong so that if they choose to fire you, their unemployment insurance rate will not raise... Or corner you into a situation where you will feel forced to quit on your own).
