Avoid Groupon at all Cost

Pros

Remote work is the only Pro

Cons

Leadership has been doing everything they can to not pay their reps since Q4 of 2022. Monthly goal changes Toxic internal competition Leadership cannot and will not explain how our commission rates have been paid out since 2022. If asked, they dance around the question. HR is unhelpful. Going to them about issues results in 0 accountability and you will end up getting ignored by them. Looks at its employees as numbers. They’ve made it very clear that we all have to suffer while the company suffers. Unrealistic goals and work loads in attempt to push people out so they don’t have to pay severance.

Toxic unobtainable expectations. Horrible company to work for.

Pros

The employees are usually really nice, well rounded people.

Cons

Everything. The call requirements, the lack of new leads. The spiffs for tenured vs new sales reps. The longevity of the deal means nothing in this role because you won't get paid for performance of the deal. Little to no continued training. The management will push you to uncomfortable means if it may lead to 1 new business on the site. Favorite part was quitting after 2.5 years of employment and 400k in revenue, the expensed 'work from home' equipment and I had to pay Groupon $400 for my desk and chair, etc. The laptop never made it back to them in the mail and they don't want it, just the $. Rather than withhold from my last paycheck they sent .e to collections and hut my credit score:)

Groupon Response

We're sorry to hear the experience wasn't great for you. We appreciate your honest review and the time you spent with Groupon. While we're glad to hear you enjoyed the people, we will be sure to relay your feedback around management, training, and the expectations of our Business Development Representatives. Regarding our Work From Home Reimbursement program, we've received great feedback on this benefit to support our employees in setting up a productive work environment while working from home. That said, with voluntary resignations, we do require repayment if you received the benefit within a specific time frame before leaving, and we work very closely with team members who experience this to avoid escalation. We hope this context is helpful, and wish you the best in your next adventure.
