Pros

Halliburton has great people working in the organiszation. There are always intellegent, bright, enthusiastc people coming up with innovative technologies and solutions with a 'can do' attitude.

Cons

As with a lot of large companies change can be cumbersum and processes labourious. There is not quite the flexibilty there for employees to 'change' things quickly and efficiently. We also are 'stockholder beholden' now first and service to customer second- this was not the case a few years back.

Pros

Halliburton is a great place to work. It puts you in charge of your career. Plenty of opportunities in US and international. Lots of training and on job experience. Halliburton support continuing education so its a great way to get graduate, MBA or any other higher degree. Lots of very experienced and talented people to learn from. Great deal of mutual respect between employee and managers. Management style very friendly and laid back. Little to no micro management. Company has a gap of people with 10 + yrs of experience. Good chance to progress if you are in the right place. More than 70% people are 20-30+ yrs experience which is also good and bad. You can gripe just about anything but i would suggest to take advantage of great opportunities at Halliburton and be in-charge of your own career than expect from others to coach and lead you.

Cons

Benefits are taking a downward swirl. No bonus until you reach Principal Tech. This is not usual with other competitors. Promotions are slow. Pay is okay. Very laid back style. No rush for just about anything. Duncan has a unique environment and may be slightly more laidback than other locations. Retaining talent is an issue.

Pros

It’s a large company with limitless opportunity to travel and explore. Halliburton is well recognized and respected, and contains some truly unique and friendly talent. Put simply, I’ve heard among customers, competitors and reviews, that it is known as the company that “gets it done”.

Cons

Indeed, it's a large company and movement (lateral or otherwise) is difficult as you are limited on direct exposure. Its good-ol’-boy roots seem to remain (both positively and negatively). The politics and public opinion can be alarming. I saw an enormous amount of talent go to waste among my fellow interns and new hires. The company didn't seem to recruit new talent for some time. It seems the older workforce (on average) resents the younger and once the hiring surge started, the Culture didn’t know how to engage (or train) them. Upper management behavior is peculiar which seems to indicate a lack of information exchange amongst even the C-levels. The structure can change at the drop of a hat. But if you land a great mentor (which they won’t assign) you’re very lucky and stand to gain a lot.
