Pros

- comprehensive training packages - 2nd largest oilfield services company in the world - great colleagues - great medical benefits - transport provided - good learning opportunities - opens up a huge market of career opportunities in other product lines

Cons

- Be prepared to be treated as a cog in the system; slow career progression, close to zero tangible incentives for achievers - Certain teams are led by technically inadequate/under-exposed leaders which is hard to command respect from subordinates - Be prepare to have an externally hired mid-career foreign engineer do the same kind of work as you but get they paid 30 to 40% more. - Internal promotion is rare. It seems like the management enjoys hiring senior positions from outside (mind you from distantly-related industries) - Layoffs happen like annual D&Ds. Some years you have it more than once. - In a nutshell, the old and the new management have gotten most things wrong since 4 years ago. - Company is leaning towards hiring contractors to replace full-time staffs.

Very Political company

Pros

Good medical benefits and colleagues. Opportunities to learn new things that are being thrown to you without much supervision. People expect you to swim across the border. Can work with people from other countries and understand their culture and the way they work.

Cons

This place has become very political after expansion. If you are unable to play it, don't burn your hands. There are lots of plastic people around so be careful as you will never know who will stab you at the back. The place is very far from mainland and took time to travel out by bus.

Pros

Seemingly attempts to create a good working environment. Has lots of opportunities to do community service or belong to internal groups. Well run financially and compensates their employees well.

Cons

Not diverse and does not try to be diverse. Run by old white men which is problematic if you are not an old, white man. Too much red tape, can't get things done because of it. No clear goals, you are expected to "make your own career" which translates into, "figure out what you are supposed to do, I don't care what that is." There is a lot of talk, and people who are good at talking are able to climb the ladder, but because of this there isn't much action or execution. Not a very "intellectual" company. The only reason it is seen as the "number 2 service company" is because of financials and some key product lines, not because of how the company operates. Management is arrogant and because of this is unable to see the problems.
