Pros

-Working with incredibly talented authors

Cons

-There are zero possibilities for advancement. -Salaries are incredibly low—those who come from other publishers are often paid significantly more than employees who have been working at the company for their entire careers. -Horrible staff retention—there is an incredibly high turnover rate which negatively impacts those who stay, as well as the books and authors themselves.

Pros

The work is steady and you don't feel threatened that you're replaceable. Good job security.

Cons

Absolutely no way to advance or receive any kind of raise unless you are promoted. No matter if you're there for over 5 years, or if you've taken on more work, or even if you've excelled beyond your expectations . Your manager will not advocate for you so you will need to advocate for yourself during your review.
