Pros

quality operations, quality management. Great benefits of staying at hotels complimentary. Overall quality operations within the hotels. They promote from within

Cons

IT department is behind the times. I would say an average of 5-8 years behind the times. Corporate office is the typical political game.

Pros

This hotel is the largest in San Diego, and one of the largest Hyatts in the world. Working here will give you good experience and provides a great addition to your resume that will be noticed by other employers in the industry.

Cons

The Manchester Grand Hyatt is a perfect example of having too many chiefs and not enough indians. Lack of trust causes a lack of empowerment of employees to assist guests properly, and departments often lack the tools to complete their jobs effectively. For example, a server in a restaurant may not split a check for a guest without management approval, and administrative departments often lacked essentials like pens and paper because upper management would not approve purchase. Additionally, lower-level management is so overworked by their many superiors that they cannot pay proper attention to guests and clients. The hotel's HR department constantly expresses their desire to "promote from within", but does not let it be known that this policy generally only applies to those already at a management level, or their paid interns known as Corporate Management Trainees (CMT's), who are often thrown into management positions after 10 months that they are not at all ready for.
