Pros

Invenergy’s personnel is really outstanding in different levels. The company allow you to do and learn as much as you are willing to.

Cons

Recognition in the form of promotions may depend too much on having a good manager.

Pros

-Convenient location in the loop by both Union Station and the subway. -There is a lot of potential in the energy market for Invenergy to continue to grow. -The Company is well funded by partial owners Blackstone and the Renewable Energy Act. The threat of this private company being sold to a new party is very low. -The Technology department is very transparent about progress, projects and praise within the group by way of quarterly meetings.

Cons

-Work from home regulations have been slowly stripped away. Any job currently posting as a hybrid job in Chicago will most likely require you back into the office fully within a year. -You will go through at least five interviews with multiple departments you may rarely interact with. -The company has a high turnover. Me and one other person were hired to our team of 6 in October of 2021. We are now in August 2023 the most senior members of the team aside from our department manager who hired us. -Your manager on hiring will not necessarily stay with you after a year or more. Multiple middle managers are being hired and input from teams addressing concerns are not taken into consideration. -There is a major disconnect between department managers and upper management. i.e. Upper management met with our department for input on WFH. We addressed the happiness with the current system and its work life balance. That very day an email went out regressing the weekly 2 off/3 on site schedule to now being 6 days a month. -Managers will not fight for you. Any concerns are met with deft ears as they state they want your feedback but will constantly state their hands are tied. -I began work as a contract to hire and I regret being hired on full time. As a contractor you have the power to govern yourself more and I highly recommend it. -On the point of contract versus full time. They use a yearly bonus system to incentivize you to stay on. This will be about 8-10% of your salary but it is taxed HEAVILY. Also your yearly QoL raises will be around 3-4% at most. You will not get the bonus as a contractor but QoL raises will be addressed at the end of contracts. -There are constant space issues. It is a growing company and they are trying so hard to get you to come into the office. However, you will more than likely be stuck with hoteling your desk or just trying to find space to use your laptop for half a year or more. The company has doubled down on leasing more space in the corporate office instead of allowing WFH but it is not planned for completion until 2024.
