      pros and cons

      Pros

      Good overall ethical standards towards products and customers. Good (but not outstanding) overall benefits. Good fiscal disciplines.

      Cons

      Insufficient oversights of mid-level management, resulting in abuses of those below and low morale among rank and files. A result of this problem is that if one does not have a sponsor, often times one cannot advance. On the other hand those that kiss up often get all promoted fast. I know it is like that everywhere, but does not make it acceptable.

      Pros

      Benefits package - health insurance, 401k - are good. Pension is rather weak - though at least it exists. I had very understanding managers who were very cooperative regarding work/family issues. (Not all are so lucky!)

      Cons

      Moral is very low in the IT groups - and getting lower as jobs disappear overseas. At the operating company level, Sales and Marketing are STARS; all else are merely there to serve.

      J&J is a Great company to work for!

      Pros

      It is a strong company run on fundamental principles. I have confidence in the way the company is being run and I am happy with the opportunities provided to me. J&J will continue to be an industry leader because of the sound principles which guide the way it is run.

      Cons

      It is a huge company and it seems that sometimes there is a disconnect, and it would seem that there would be opportunities to partner with other operating companies within J&J a little more often. But companies within J&J really function as spereate operating companies and this is often times seen as a positive.
