Great Company

Pros

Great training, great brands, great pay. Workload is heavy and hectic, but rewarding due to the great brands and the impact they have on people's lives. You will learn a lot, and will work with exceptionally talented people who care about others and their business.

Cons

Senior management has injected a lot more politics in the last 6-9 years. The place is a matrix nightmare encumbered by process for the sake of process. Many Senior leaders are micro managers and fail to trust or delegate. They want more risk taking but fail in doing it themselves. They are not shy at running good talent out of the organization as they age and the pyramid narrows. Management takes care of their own, senior leaders make buckets of money through stock options etc. while passing out less than 1% merit increases to the balance of the organization. Many senior level positions are being sourced from outside the company, log jamming and straining the talent pool below.

Pros

Stable company but uncertain of long term strategies. Brands are solid but birth rates declining.. need to think about how to expand portfolio for future growth.

Cons

Company recently moved to "market based pay" system, effectively condensing the career ladder. What this means is that relatively entry level as well as long term folks all have same titles and are all evaluated the same in terms of work responsibilities. Understanding the career path and how many lateral positions and "experiences" one must make is not easily understood and is frustrating. The capped time in these positions seems to be anywhere from 5-10 years or longer before you can get a true promotion in terms of moving grade levels. Sadly management isn't helping much w the career navigation... And for some the opportunitities are for those in the "good ole boys" network.

Pros

Mostly very good people and friends.

Cons

Slow to change, continued annual forced ranking ultimately discourages cooperation and risk taking, moved from technology focused to business focus and technical talent has diminished.
