Pros

You will get compensated very well in the AM role for what you do. Conceptually, selling a membership is not too difficult. You are in a competitive environment at a fitness resort, around goal-oriented, driven and fit individuals. The ability to grow fast and move to different areas of the company and relocate is a plus. Exciting new and innovative things to come. Most leads are generated for you.

Cons

Be prepared to put in a lot of hours if you want to maximize your paycheck. You can work 12 hours in a day, make 50+ calls and not make a dime. But that's the high-risk, high-reward concept of sales. Dealing with ungrateful, snotty member complaints is going to be a daily headache (which cuts into your productivity as a Salesperson). There is not much of a "breakroom" so you're forced to buy food from the LifeCafe almost everyday and the employee discount on select items barely makes it justifiable (I mean c'mon, can't we at least be provided coffee and water?). Good luck trying to book a regular vacation or getting necessary time off to grieve the loss of a family member or friend. The promotional cadence is laughable. It's a random Tuesday in the middle of the month and I'm supposed to make prospects believe that this "$29 flash sale" is never going to return ever again. "Oh wait, it'll actually be back on Friday, and then Monday, and then the next day, but I have a code for you because we just want you to sign up and not actually value the investment into your health and fitness."

Pros

Before the GM change there was an amazing team of people who tried to push each other to be the best business and team there was in the area.

Cons

The cons were we had a young manager after the old one left. He did his best to try to bring others together but had faults. The new GM was set on eliminating him from his posting by sabotaging his employees by demanding them to get new clients or they could not take a lunch break. Eliminating the ability for one of the trainers who specialized in barbell work from using the squat racks and demanding their resignation or they would just be fired on the spot. Then isolating another employee who choose alternate lifestyle choices to pushing them to the point of resignation. Collectively this has tanked the young personal training manager's numbers in revenue for his position creating the perfect scenario for her to fire him. This is very bad manipulative management and a sadistic culture for employment. Please consider working for another gym location until new management arrives. Also I put myself at risk for retaliation from the GM by leaving this review. I am not even sure if what has happened is legal.
