Pros

I chose to work at Macmillan over other companies for a few different reasons. I started as an intern and was hired full time. I admire the strong work ethic of my boss and coworkers in my department, I have been able to learn a lot from them. Macmillan also offers great benefits and a strong work/personal life balance. Part of Macmillan's mission is to grow faster than it's competitors and have fun while doing it, I would say most employee's would agree.

Cons

Entry level salaries are low for living in New York. It is pretty cool to come to work in the Flatiron Building every day (such a great area too) but the building and offices could use some TLC.

Pros

Ongoing restructuring provides opportunities for advancement, ownership remain supportive despite several years of poor results, 'LaunchPad' - crucial to the company's future - is now more stable

Cons

Ongoing restructuring creates a sense of insecurity, most important market (composition) has shrunk in recent years, company is suffering now because of earlier failure to develop coherent media strategy, salesforce morale is low after a series of bad years, many employees expect ownership to sell if poor results continue
