Pros

Industry leader, big name authors and imprints and the opportunity to be part of an evolving industry

Cons

Poor compensation and willful exploitation of freelancers. They haven't fully figured out how to evolve. Insufficient benefits for the many young women who fill the field- ie terrible maternity leave.

Pros

Worked in textbook division. Good benefits and helpful colleagues.

Cons

Salary as assistant editor just couldn't keep up with NYC living costs, but that's true of many other publishing houses. Actually took an editing job in Philly, which is a more manageable city
