Pros

If you are looking to pursue a career in hospitality, this company offers many positions and room for growth. There was a friendly environment, and management really sought to help employees growth.

Cons

Depending on the department you work in, work/life balance is almost non-existent. Compensation can be on the lower side, but benefits are outstanding.

Pros

Amazing perks: discount rooms, you can stay at any marriott anywhere in the world for almost nothing. Great benefits, employees are always cheerful. Chain of command, and HR is very serious. Any problem whatsoever that you take up to HR will be handled promptly.

Cons

Working at the front desk, the guests treat you horrible. No holidays, sometimes very long hour days.

Pros

Focus on innovation - they are becoming a hospitality tech company focused on customer experience. Some of the people are nice, smart, and effective. Hotel discounts for associates.

Cons

Once Marriott bought Starwood, those coming from Starwood have been given priority for jobs over incumbent Marriott employees ("associates"). With the reorganization as the company integrates both, many original Marriott associates have been let go in multiple rounds of layoffs. Original business units have been in chaos as they seek to staff positions empty by those they released. Need to plan more effectively. In addition, some of the internal organizations do not get along and compete with one another which can lead to issues for associates. This is a political environment. Network matters. There are also many consultants running around - the culture from the big consulting firms has permeated the company leading to focus on data driven results as opposed to quality in people.
