Pros

Great product line. Excellent marketing. Wonderful, talented people.

Cons

Ridiculous office culture where there is no privacy to work effectively or efficiently...all because of some quirky idea the owners had that employees with offices made those without offices feel inferior. Not to worry, they have plenty of other ways to make all their employees feel inferior--unfair reviews, required time card punch even for salaried employees that carries with it a financial penalty if you're late, completely unrealistic expectations in terms of work/life balance. I could go on and on.

Flexibility no longer

Pros

This used to be a great purpose driven company, isolated from share holder drive. There are still pockets of long term vision, but massive federation makes it difficult to achieve.

Cons

Recent changes to UK policy. What made this company great in valuing employees and being a purpose driven company is being eroded. Yes the economy is hard, but the levers being pulled reduce the huge amount of great positives that made Mars. Flexibility now being negioted, presenteeism being encouraged and a toxic environment driven by constant goal posts being moved and careerism from senior leadership. Diversity and inclusion are talked about a lot but this is another area now second to short term goals. Great long term senior leaders leaving only reinforces this.

Pros

More people-centric than most employers

Cons

Extremely political at the VP level HR has way too much say on things like career growth - they don't provide anything positive on this, only putting up blockers. They don't understand the business AT ALL, like data & analytics -- they're clueless about talent (pay, career trajectories, etc) yet act all high & mighty and flex their "muscle" more often than they should. Why is HR doing nothing but blocking things rather than looking for ways to promote long-term career growth? It's amazing to see someone so clueless have so much impact. Other companies & industries don't have such blockers in HR like Mars does. A shame, lots of D&A talent leaving because HR is terrible.
