Pros

Good bonus' IF the store is making target Can wear casual attire Free hot beverages in the staff room Opportunity to work more than contracted hours IF the store is making target

Cons

Supervisors are trouble makers mainly because they are often left to do as they please by managers. Managers hire and fire at will with very little explanation or genuine cause. Unnecessary amounts of pressure is put on staff who are expected to be happy 100% of the time despite increasingly tense working environments. Managers regularly b*tch and gossip about the personal lives of colleagues and often try to control, manipulate and dictate how staff members live their lives and deal with issues outside of the work environment. When I first started working there the core principles> Mutuality, Freedom, Efficiency, Quality and Responsibility were thrown about heavily and we were encouraged to think of them and enforce them in our daily activities - towards the end we were told that mutuality was a lie and freedom certainly did not exist in that place. I do wonder how the Mars family would feel if they truly saw how M&M's World is being run.

Pros

In the beginning, it was a great place to work. They took care of employees and provided great benefits and opportunities. Actually a fun and enjoyable place to work at years ago.

Cons

Once the father died and young Bill took over, things began changing for the worst and quite quickly. Upper management became a revolving door and all the people that had spent years there being groomed for their bosses jobs quickly were passed over for new unqualified people that had little to no knowledge of managing people or business. The older employees became responsible for training their new bosses and once they did, were usually shown the door or demoted to another department. Ultimately, young Bill's heart was never in the business and it wasn't uncommon for him to disappear for weeks on end. In the end, young Bill didn't know whom to trust and hired another CEO to run the business. Probably around that same time, he already knew he had lost a grip on the company and decided to take the money and run. A year after the sale, Bill Jr. took his buy out and left Chicago almost overnight.

Has become highly political Communication from Senior management is terrible - no one knows what mars is looking for and the remaining Wrigley senior management are all out for themselves, not their people Most of the strong operations people are gone - only 'corporate types' that can impress mars family are left
