Pros

handful of real good friends and helping residents succeed while they train.

Cons

gossip, everyone wants to be in your life, shady management (for real), threatening mgmt. If you are an exceptional employee it makes the lazy ones look bad, they get angry and you become a target for mgmt. This place breeds & encourages bad behavior and doesn't rectify that in any way. I can go on and on. If you have a stronger work ethic, integrity and a spine, you will NOT fit in.

Pros

The major employer in town.

Cons

Director was a bully to me and several employees to the point of making us leave Mayo. HR did nothing - never has, never will. The Compliance Hotline did nothing. She knew about her boss's affair so her leadership did nothing to protect us from her. Toxic work environment, unrealistic expectations with high turnover and zero resources. Only way to keep people was to put them in Corrective Action for bs reasons. Most unprofessional environment I've ever worked in. HR is a joke. People are too scared to say anything because Mother Mayo runs this town.

Pros

No required OT, late nights, holidays, and weekends for non ED and floor staff. Set schedule. Average PTO for hospital. Tuition assistance. FMLA benefits. Great healthcare benefits. Unmatchable high pay. Coworkers become friends and are like family.

Cons

Harassment and bullying from a staggering portion of management. Bosses that belittle, put down, intimidate you. Lack of opportunities for growth as no one ever quits, when they do management promotes friends over highly educated and experienced members. Staff terrified to report anything to HR for fear of retaliation from management. Mayo IS AWARE of bullying in the workplace but nothing has changed. Racists comments I've heard from coworkers about the patients is discussing and unacceptable. I've reported some of these comments to management with nothing ever being done. Clear signs of favoritism. Employees that should be let go are kept on due to being friends with the boss. Bosses that write up one employee for something and then ignore others that do the same.
