Fine but going downhill

Pros

-The day to day people you interact with are brilliant, kind and hard working people. -The offices are nice and well taken care of. -Good snacks. -Can dogfood games. -Benefits are decent. -Some managers are fantastic -Fun community days and opportunity to go to Gofest -Get to learn more about the available games and new features -Remote work is possible but only after gaining enough trust

Cons

-favoritism is very obvious -CEO and leadership say they take accountability without any actions to prove it. Multiple games were either rushed or should not have been launched. It seems they are trying to find more revenue streams but are unsuccessful. Some of those in leadership seem burnt out. -They don’t listen to their community who clearly state they don’t want another repackaged PGO game -Depending on the team there are some doing the work of 4 people. This has become worse after the layoffs -Starting to feel like a lot of workers no longer respect or trust leadership. -The AR platform is okay, but not strong enough to compete with top players. -Male dominant in a noticeable way

Pros

People know PokemonGo and the brand Niantic so it seems like a 'cool' place to work

Cons

*Little opportunity to grow or understand why decisions are made. *Huge initial investment in 'big' products but when things go off rails, leadership continues to pretend things are going okay instead of giving support or stopping progression -- until the product inevitably gets dropped. *Leadership is inconsistent, confusing and what they say doesn't match what they do *Regardless of face time, little change or opportunity to make a great impact UNLESS of course you are part of the sacred leadership (which I mean at the very top) *Ultimately not a place to grow skills that will be applicable outside the company unless you are one of the lucky ones or in leadership *A massive disappointment that took years of my experience because I kept the hope alive for too long.

Pros

- Diverse in the sense that there are a lot of people of varying backgrounds across the globe - Leadership truly believes in its mission - Employees are super passionate, and will stick up for causes they believe in. - Company still runs like a well funded startup: great benefits, equity in the company, it can feel like a family at times, solid work life balance (2 weeks for pandemic leave, moving towards a hybrid office-home working environment) - Leadership is very accessible: every week there is a flavor of a "company townhall"

Cons

- Not diverse enough for African Americans - Leadership truly believes in its mission even it causes angst among product users and employees - Employees are super passionate, sometimes to the point not letting go of a sticky point like a dog with a bone. Sometimes having a strong opinion can be detrimental to overall progress. - Company still runs like a well funded startup: lack of documentation, processes feel inconsistent, can feel like some decisions are revenue driven even when leadership says otherwise - Leadership is very accessible which feels like they are being transparent but they aren't. Big decisions still take place behind privileged doors.
