Pros

- passionate coworkers - ok benefits

Cons

- CEO is a software guy that doesn’t understand games or entertainment and meddles in the decision making of people that do - the ARGeo platform is prioritized above all else, even PGO. If you don’t give them what they want, prepare for your career to stall - the company doesn’t believe in designed experiences. All products are shallow because they treat their artists and designers like third class citizens - very little actual mentoring and career guidance happens at the company - DEI is lip service - sexism and favoritism runs rampant in annual reviews. See the ongoing lawsuit - hybrid policy was forced on employees despite major productivity gains when we were WFH. - the CEO has final approval of remote exemption requests. A massive waste of everyone’s time.

Pros

- good pay - nice coworkers - fun projects

Cons

- leadership roles hired externally, not much room for advancement - decision making and plans say they are made by teams, but then overridden by executive decisions made behind closed doors - leadership not skilled at conflict resolution amongst themselves or their teams

Stronger cons than pros

Pros

Benefits — medical, dental, vision, are all subsidized more heavily than at other companies CEO loves the company and community, tries very hard to build an inclusive and diverse company Colleagues are smart and hard-working

Cons

Lack of overall cohesive vision and strategy Too much reliance on Pokémon Go as the cash cow. At some point, the cow will run out of milk. Very weak engineering leadership at the top. Promotions are not transparent or fair — a legacy problem. Some people are promoted too quickly, some too slowly. Lots of inexperienced TLMs and managers — most are in leadership positions for the first time in their short careers (~2-5 years out of college).
