Pros

Product is solid Some great peers who are just trying to survive

Cons

If you are considering joining the sales organization at Okta, run. The turnover rate is nearly three times higher than the industry average. New hires quickly realize the culture is toxic, quotas are unrealistic, and morale is at rock bottom. Most reps I worked with lasted about a year—burned out, disillusioned, and emotionally exhausted. Micromanagement is rampant. Reporting to leadership feels like being under surveillance, not support. Any attempt to raise concerns or request support—is met with retaliation, not resolution. I personally experienced this, and I know I’m not alone. The interview process paints a beautiful picture. But once you’re in, you see the truth: gaslighting, pressure, fear-based leadership, and a complete disregard for employee wellbeing. If you care about your mental health, your self-worth, and a career you can actually grow in—don’t fall for the pitch. You will regret it.

Pros

* Drag Queen Story Hours appear to have been a one-and-done activity. * Oktappreciate Points are more valuable than actual gold.

Cons

* The talent has left the building. An incredible amount of regrettable turnover across all business functions, replaced by very average dropouts from similarly tired former high-growth cloud companies. * Currency these days is an ability to never seem disagreeable while never actually making a decision on anything, a trait mastered especially by all of the recent hires from Salesforce. * A complete revamp of the GTM motion has been introduced with no detail at all, accompanied by a plea to "Trust Us!" by people who have not done a thing to earn that trust. * "Town Halls" and "Ask Me Anything" are hijacked by political animals. Recently, the CEO was about to give an honest answer about our Gartner ratings when one of his lieutenants (a cartoonish climber right out of the script of a "Silicon Valley" episode) leapt in to save the day with some vapid, legal-approved, no-substance pablum. Talk about treating your people like children.

Pros

Good benefits; many great and collaborative colleagues. Pros were greater pre-merger when it was Auth0, not Okta

Cons

Very poor management; cliquish; false openness and transparency; a lot of people who don't understand identity in positions of power and authority; upper management out of touch with what employee producers actually do; falsely claiming to want to be global and have a worldview but in a totally Bay Area bubble (which is growing smaller and more insular). A lot of lip service about diversity and not a lot of real action here. If you don't fit a certain idea of what an Okta employee is or should be, you feel very much on the outside. Also the company takes a very inside-out approach and doesn't really think about customer first no matter what they claim.
