Amazing place to work but a couple of cons

Pros

Flexibility(even before COVID) was great. Was able to work from home for a day or two if I needed to for personal reasons. Now we all currently work remote the company continues to make an effort with employee engagement and keeping their employees connected and informed. A very supportive company that cares about it's employees. Compensation is very good and we're rewarded very well for our efforts.

Cons

With any large company lots of red tape - it's not as easy to implement new or different things compared to how easy it might be in a start up. Also lots of organizational/leadership changes. Most of the time they don't have any effect on the day to day but feels like I see an update most weeks at this stage.

Pros

Some great people and top talent

Cons

Stereotypical clinical US corporate, exists purely to maximize IDA tax $$$s ironically often at the cost of local jobs. Severely lacking Leadership team dominated by architypical old male empire builders whose primary instinct is to protect themselves at all costs

Think before you join

Pros

Salary Work from home (depending on team)

Cons

The company is not the technology company it portrays itself as. There is a toxic environment in some teams which has seen very good individuals leave. Real opportunities for career progression are limited if you're technical. If you're into theory rather than practical then you will probably go far here. Some teams are downsizing and roles vacated are not being backfilled as the company shifts focus (always shifting focus) to other services. The one constant here is change, not always for the good. Endless meetings about meetings with little progression. It's not unusual to work on a project for months only to have it shelved. Leaders like to go on about the culture which the company prides itself on. This is absolute nonsense. Collaboration is limited, competition on the other hand appears to be more appropriate. Advice to those contemplating joining is to consider this as a short term role only.
