Pros

I work with a really great team My direct manager is amazing, as is my director. The work is rewarding Office still has assigned cubicles which is incredibly beneficial

Cons

Where to begin... Health benefits are just another way for Optum to make money, not a way to give back to employees. No work/life balance, its constant work and chaos They won't give more resources to my team despite making a TON of money They don't pay people for the job Hard to get a promotion Bonuses and raises are extremely demoralizing and drive people away They have some management in different states making it almost impossible to be on the same page when you aren't talking to them 24/7 Metrics, metrics, metrics...let me get some work done!!!!! And possibly the worst....they outsource to HR Direct...the worst company known to mankind. HR Direct doesn't act on anything that you make a legit complaint on and Optum human capital doesn't get involved until the situation gets out of hand and there's a police report. They don't live up to the zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment and assault at all. HR is joke, and I will never change my opinion. If you're a girl working here...just know the company will not protect you.

Pros

8 holidays (not the traditional 11)

Cons

Field based personnel must provide a cell phone for company business. No reimbursement provided by company; Employee expected to shoulder the cost. No reimbursement for office (i.e. internet) or landline. Employee expected to shoulder the cost. Travel policy is out of date. Daily meal allowance is less than $30.00 per day. When you resign, any unused vacation is NOT paid out (unless your specific state's law requires it). Beware! Take your vacation before you resign. Health benefits are sub par which is a joke as the parent company is United Healthcare. Caustic culture - high turnover rate. High priority initiatives are internally focused, not customer focused. If the initiative is tied to upper management bonus then more pressure is applied to individual workers.
