Pros

- people and culture are the #1 reason people stay and enjoy their time at work. - good work/life balance - leaders genuinely care about their employees - ability to innovate and take ownership - a "goldilocks" company, not too big where there is bureaucracy and red tape , but not too small where resources are scarce. it's just right!

Cons

We eat A LOT of cake. not saying that's bad but it can be quite tempting and hard to say no to...first world problems.

Pros

1. Free snacks 2. Free meal in some occasions 3. Flexible in Working Arrangement 4. Dog Friendly 5. Talented people at working level 6. Causal environment instead of a professional setting, can be a pro or a con depends on what you like

Cons

1. Typical problems for start-up companies, e.g. constant fire-fighting, changing priorities 2. Unable to implement SOP for ITSM and SDLC to support business processes. No clear PM / SCRUM Master roles to keep projects on course. 3. The company is much more closer to a marketing agency for hotels & entertainment instead of a software company or a game development company, this might be a reason why point 2 occurs, think twice if you expect to learn core engineering and project management practice. 4. Legacy backend component without sufficient documentation and KM is a minefield for anyone trying to build features on the top 5. A Dead-end job for technical roles as the SDLC practice is not compatible with other companies due to Point 2 6. Lack of standardized document to describe business use cases, e.g. BDD user stories, acceptance criteria 7. Conflicted internal acronyms with IT industry standard acronyms 8. The games mechanics is not interesting, but it caters a certain niche of the social gaming audience, cannot compare to major hits like Animal Crossing, Pokemon Go, etc

Trial by fire, proud of the response

Pros

This is a stable, successful studio that is growing in spite of an unprecedented global economic collapse. I don't mean that to sound insensitive to the situation elsewhere in the industry and the world, but it seems important to mention how strong and healthy the company is. Honest effort is being made to identify and improve areas where the company has problems. This is good to see and is being taken very seriously at all levels of management. I've been with the studio for a good amount of time and we've had our ups and downs, successes and failures. But seeing the company's leadership mobilize and respond to the coronavirus has been nothing short of stunning. The care and attention and creativity being given to the team is simply astonishing. The direct, steady, humane response from the executives is remarkable. I don't know if we're supposed to even discuss it, but the company isn't just taking care of its team members. It's also looking out for its wider community as well, taking care of folks who haven't been as lucky as us and who have been furloughed or laid off or otherwise displaced by the crisis. Not letting your neighbors fall through the cracks in an emergency is the kind of thing you don't really even think about asking for in a job, but there it is.

Cons

Be open about decision-making, especially when it will impact teams directly. We're mature enough to handle being exposed to the sometimes difficult reality behind tough choices. Don't let the loudest voices dominate discussions. Some of our most talented team members are quiet, contemplative, and slow to respond.

Many thanks for your observations, but more so for your continued service. We appreciate that you have remained with us through good times and bad. This pandemic is teaching all of us to be even more flexible and empathetic to the experiences of others, and we are doing all we can to keep everyone connected and engaged even though we are working apart. ~Amy
