      My immediate co-workers are great.

      Cons

      Some dynamics in the executive team are troubling and petty and this filters down through the organization.

      While I appreciate that you've taken the step to review how you've experienced working at PLOS, I'm not sure how to use your feedback for actionable improvement (I haven't experienced petty dynamics on the executive team, and this is the first I've heard of this particular concern). I'm heartened that your immediate co-workers are great and hope that you're giving constructive feedback to your manager and other leaders so that PLOS will be a worthy investment of 3+ years of your career.

      Good environment, passionate colleagues

      Pros

      Pros include passionate, astute colleagues who are enthusiastic about PLOS and science, many with years of experience under their belt at the organization. PLOS is a place where you feel like you are truly contributing to the better good. Good management. Extremely good benefits.

      Cons

      Tons of different types of software used, many of which overlap. Conflicting messaging about career development opportunities. The split between and communication around in-office and remote employees can be confusing and contradictory.

I've also appreciated our astute and dedicated people, and one of the best benefit packages I've experienced to-date. PLOS is at an interesting time in its journey, and we take your advise to heart: the management team is exploring how we'll leverage an adaptive, growth mindset in the next chapters as PLOS expands its legacy in breaking barriers to open science. We're also continuing to explore how to enhance our communications across all channels, and certainly have room to grow , especially as it relates to remote workers.
