Pros

Employees are allowed to work from home from time to time. I am not micro managed, though I know this differs from manager to manager. Salaries are more competitive than similar jobs at non-profits.

Cons

I do not feel that I am compensated fairly for my skill level and education level. Benefits are getting more expensive. Funding for our projects is precarious, and therefore we have had lay offs since I have been employed here. I think our departments don't communicate and work well together. They are like silos.

Pros

Some inspiring projects, impressive portfolio and work in lots of sectors and countries, some smart and dedicated staff too overworked or traumatized to leave.

Cons

The messaging (internal and external) is all smoke and mirrors attempting to hide the huge mess inside this company. I was in the Washington DC office for several years and was kept too busy and demoralized to look for another job, plus didn't want to let down my employees and peers by leaving. Like many, I believed in my projects so tried to ignore the poor systems, awful senior managers, and constantly growing pressures of doing more while relying on a few key colleagues in other departments b/c internal politics (or, in some cases, simple lack of training for the constant stream of new names). Kafka-esque office and policies lead to a weird culture of whispering, people working off-site b/c they actually have work to get done and can't in the wide open office, and senior management in suits showing up once in a while to present the latest strategic vision. I still haven't figured out the ownership structure of this set of companies, but the (non-public) shareholders are the higher ups and their main concern is making money for themselves. I'll stop there, but bottom line is that sadly I would not recommend Palladium as a place to work.
