Pros

- Benefits - Working hours (in my field)

Cons

The atmosphere is horrible. If you are not the standard SJW but have a brain like James Damore you will not like it, or succeed here. You get taught about the wage gap and how women are oppressed in society.... I mean I am almost 40 years old, a woman and call BS on all of that. If you don't buy into it and you voice that opinion you are basically not a fit for the culture and your career will die. I have been working for PayPal for 10 years and it was a great place when I first started but management is too afraid to say what they think and keeps pushing the SJW agenda. People are being promoted because they scream the loudest and not because they work the hardest. Soft skills and improving people's happiness (i was in a supervisory position) is not appreciated. They claim to have a coaching culture but that is there on paper and not lived. My Advice to new employees: - you better make sure you laugh at the jokes everyone else laughs as or you'll have an interesting 1on1 with your manager coaching you for not laughing at the appropriate moments.... yes.... this happened.... and i was required to do this to my team which I wasn't going to do. Sorry.

Poor Manager

Pros

Great people and there is genuine opportunities to get promoted and to learn. The multicultural environment is really great

Cons

PayPal is a good company, for most people, but there so much entrusted to the people managers/team leaders, that if you get a bad one, it destroys the experience you have as an employee. That's what happened me. I had a bad manager that either wasnt able to support me or just didn't. I hate to say, but I think it was the latter. After over 2 years, I had to fight to get the same recognition as my peers, with the same performance.

Pros

Good health care benefits, extended bonding/leave time for new parents,

Cons

I worked there 13 years and saw a lot of changes over the years, mostly good but ever since they separated from eBay in 2015, it's really gone downhill fast. They have forced good agents into roles they do not want to do and anymore it's about making and saving money, they hammer productivity into our heads on a daily basis and don't get me started on the horrible micromanagement! They treat you like an elementary school kid who needs a hall pass to use the bathroom when you get up from your desk for 30 seconds to go get a drink. Plus they got rid of a lot of the cool and fun incentive and recognition programs for employees.
