Well-run company, high growth

Pros

If you're looking for a place to make your stamp in a fast growing entertainment-tech company, this is the place. Management encourages people to step up, take ownership and implement ideas. Rapidly growing yet still able to be methodical in approach. Great environment to be in. The founders were able to bootstrap the company for 12 years and looking to take this to a whole other level. Really special to be a part of the team that will make that happen.

Cons

HQ is located 1 block from the beach. I can't think of any cons after that.

An Amazing Place to Work

Pros

The team is amazing. Everyone is friendly and collaborative. If you have initiative, love working with a really smart team of talented people with a passion for making great games, then PlayQ is the place for you. The PlayQ ethos is to work smarter, not harder. While we do work hard, there is a real commitment to getting the perfect work-life balance. This isn't some corporate platitude, either. PlayQ is constantly developing better procedures, building better tools and hiring the right people to make our team nimble, capable and responsive. The two co-founders round out a world-class executive team that have the vision and the wherewithal to take PlayQ to the next level. They've not only clearly defined an ambitious roadmap for the company's future, but also laid the groundwork for how to get there. There are weekly catered lunches, themed monthly gatherings and a cool esprit de corps that you can feel the instant you enter the building. Did I also mention that the office is located a short walk from the beach in Santa Monica? In short, PlayQ is an amazing place to work.

Cons

There aren't any cons to working at PlayQ.

Great place to start!

Pros

PlayQ is a great place to start to get your feet wet in the gaming industry. Most people are new to the industry or have worked at smaller gaming companies. CEO is focused and a great leader. The PlayQ community is made up of friendly, smart colleagues who are dedicated and easy to work with.

Cons

Attrition comes mostly from the data and user acquisition teams, because that entire teams reports into the chief performance officer who is very difficult to work with. Employees are reprimanded for being 2-3 minutes "late" to work and threatened with losing their jobs if they show up a few minutes late for work. He doesn't care that there is traffic in LA / Santa Monica. The office is located right near 3rd street promenade which can have a lot of seasonal heavy traffic. The team is kept in meetings for hours on end (3+ hours at a time) and not allowed to break or regroup.
