      A Good and Fun Place to Work

      Pros

      Fun industry and the ability to feel a part of the product. Good inter-functional cooperation, for the most part enables one to succeed on projects that require cross-functional participation.

      Cons

      Development costs have dramatically increased, making it ever more difficult to product profitable games which leads to a tendency to make "safe" bets (sequels, etc), which takes away some of the fun in creativity.

      - Cheap playstation games through employee discounts - Good discounts on most Sony electronic products - Very recognizable Global Brand

      Cons

      - Putting out daily firedrills - Japanese communication culture (one way), ambiguous accountability from top to bottom - Lots of lifers who've never been elsewhere - Discourages employees to ask why, but just do - Data Systems never reliable = manual reconciliation most times

      Pros

      Great products, great employee interaction, respect of consumers. In a very competitive market, SCEA stood apart by not bowing to the "easy route". Management was willing to stick to plan even when it appeared things were not going well. Most times, in the end, management was right and it was good to be part of it.

      Cons

      Political system for promotions or job assignments. Mostly based on who you knew or were friendly with. Mid-level management would attack peers considered rivals for time, attention, or job opportunities.
