Pros

None to add only cons

Cons

There are double standards within the Internal Audit Department. Senior leaders are allowed to continuously violate Code of Conduct rules with minimal or no repercussions. Examples include the following: 1. Tickets to Sporting Events: Senior leaders have received and attended high-value sporting events, courtesy of consulting firms that have ongoing business relationships with the bank. These events often include premium seating and exclusive access, which could potentially influence their impartiality and decision-making processes. 2. Extravagant Dinners: There have been numerous occasions where senior leaders have been treated to lavish dinners at expensive restaurants. These dining experiences far exceed the modest meal allowances generally deemed acceptable and raise concerns about the influence these firms may exert. This not only sets a poor example but also creates an environment where ethical standards appear to be flexible based on one’s position within the organization.

Pros

RBC's overarching culture is one of integrity, strong values, inclusivity and diversity. It isn't too difficult to move up the the career / hierarchy ladder, provided you have a strong work ethic, deliver effective results, manage internal relationships well and are surrounded by fair and supportive leaders/colleagues. I worked at RBC for almost 6 years, received two promotions within 3 years, and won a number of recognition / performance awards. Met some amazing colleagues and leaders - most employees at RBC are good people.

Cons

It reeks of bureaucracy, politics, conflict of interests and nepotism in certain groups/departments of the business. I was laid off on my first day back after returning from a 3-week short-term disability leave. I highly suspect that it was due to politics and peer sabotage for a number of reasons I will not detail. Whatever the case - it's unethical to lay someone off on their first day back from disability - specially in my case, if they are a high-performer with a stellar track record at your company ("succeeded" year-end rating for 3 consecutive years, x3 RBC Performance Awards and member of the High-Potential / High-Priority Talent / Leader programs).

Pros

Don’t apply here if you are gay/trans/poc.

Cons

HR and RBC pretend to care about inclusion but when micro aggressions are brought forward nobody will do anything. Management are told to handle things internally and sweep everything under the rug.
