Pros

Pros are you get exposure to various industries, decent annual pay (hourly wage is barely anything) and working with other young professionals that are on the same wavelength as you in terms of career goals and expectations

Cons

Downsides are no employee appreciation while working 70 hour weeks, partner only shows up in office twice during the 4 month busy season, given that our group was audit support heavy, consistently, had to deal with the attitudes and fake deadlines from auditors.

Pros

-Each office has its own culture, which is great if you are in a good office for you and fit in. -If you have a team that you get along with well things are more tolerable.

Cons

-Expect to have zero social life outside of the office and looked at funny if you have other obligations other than work. -Extremely clique-y. -Hours comparable or worse than big 4 without the name recognition. -Working extremely long hours is not considered going above and beyond, its considered doing your job. -If you have a bad in-charge you have very little opportunity or ability to voice your concerns. -"up or out" mentality breeds in-charges that are not ready for leadership and are consistently overwhelmed and unable to teach new staff appropriately. -Management is often out of touch regarding how much work goes into each job, which makes staff feel like they need to constantly cut hours while doing even more work, which leads to eating hours and a vicious cycle of under-budgeted jobs each year.

Getting cheap

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

Typical public accounting pros. Quality experience, travel (if you are into it). Busy season meals. Staff sabbatical option (more of a ploy to get people to take an unpaid vacation in the summer)

Cons

Typical public accounting experience, long days, demanding, etc. Also, in general the firm is getting cheaper, and moving away from having some work life balance. There was a big movement last year to go more lean, which is good if you are on top, bad if you aren't. There really is a nervous feeling growing even for quality performers.
