Pros

Challenging work Some nice people Modern work office Location is okay

Cons

Very cheap on meals for the busy seasons The management people and partner treat us like we are just a number and not human. All about hour, hours, hours They promise many things but do not ever follow thru Hard to get promote or appreciation unless you are a favorite Horrible job at communicating information with the staff people. Have to wait until late Tuesday nights for update from main partner Many many pointless meetings that get in way of real work People who slack off get free pass and busy bees have to help them with their picking up slack If you give constructive feedback or suggest ways to be better they take offense (partnr will not like my review) Do not let intern work overtime - they will not accept ft offer for this reasons. I asked Office manager sends email at starting of busy season to tell you how to spend your lunch hours so you work more Bonuses are laughable. If someone quit, even if worked at RSM many many years, they are told to just leave and not stay for the last 2-weeks - how can you expect any one to believe you respect employees when this is done??? Very sad, depressed mood overall in the office Workspace is too noisy Main thing - no appreciation. You can do good job and care for what you are doing but it will not even cross partners mind unless someone tells them to show appreciation

Pros

A lot of free time during the summer months as the firm has a hard time winning enough work to allocate in the summer.

Cons

All of the partners at RSM (previously Mcgladrey) in the northwest market were from a local firm that RSM bought out when they were trying to get presence in the area. Though expanding the RSM brand in the area, it’s still managed with poor leadership from that previous local firm. Several articles on Glassdoor and LinkedIn highlight traits of what bad management is and it’s very present here (terrible learning environment, stuck to their own ways and not open to other perspectives, a “blame employee” culture). All of this has led to poor relationships with clients, bad morale, and inability to get client work in the area. Amongst all of the firms that have a global brand, I believe RSM clearly has the lowest presence in the northwest market. Until the firm brings in partners from the Midwest where they had a lot of success or partners that are from bigger markets that know how to run a global company, I can’t see how they will improve. A response that some of the employees who have been there long and HR will say, it’s not about the clients you have. Well it really is. It shows the demand for your services and ability to be a great client work. The brand has a lot of potential, but there is still several key things internally it needs to fix in order to deliver great service.

Pros

Great resume experience, traveled a lot- accumulated some substantial travel rewards.

Cons

Management is extremely unprofessional. One manager is known to of had an affair with a former partners wife. If you're a pretty girl - he will be willing to "spend extra time helping you". There is no work life balance, be prepared for 70 hour weeks and the associates are socially awkward and extremely competitive. Be prepared for lots of office drama and gossip.
