Pros

Flexible hours and not a rigid schedule each day. However, more supervisors/mangers will rely more on the online status from your laptop than your actual presence. - You will work on some of the best clients in Chicago

Cons

In the Chicago M&D group the partner leadership is pathetic. Laid off lower level workers because of horrible upper management planning. No partner was affected by their mistakes and instead lower level employees took the burden. Rather than being understanding and take some accountability , the managing partner leads a weak and pompous meeting to explain the utter stupidity of the partners and brag how big the practice is. When asked about the affect on current employees compensation the managing partner could not care less. One partner probably makes more than 4-5 lower level employees combined. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but should be an indicator to even pretend like you care about your staff when they have concerns due to your improper running of the business.

Pros

Most of my coworkers are awesome.

Cons

You work more hours than the Big4, and that is what is expected. Seniors and above basically have no life outside of work which is really sad. Culture here is terrible where some seniors, most managers, and most partners think they are A-list celebrities and treat people badly. There is also no accountability, and you get blamed for your superior's mistakes on a monthly basis. GT & BDO have more prestige and name recognition, and you work less hours.

Pros

Flexible working environment great exposure to a given industry friendly people

Cons

very politically charged environment and horrible back stabbing culture training is typically on the job so unless you have a good senior or manager your setup for failure evaluation performance is based on what is said at the round table not what is written your career is based on your CA's ability to sell your performance and senior management takes them at their word
