      Some great people but really poor management

      Pros

      The best reason to work at Mcgladrey is to get the public accounting experience on your resume. The client-work is a good mix of public clients and small clients so you don't have to spend a whole year only auditing cash.

      Cons

      The California region lacks strong management that can connect with its employees. Mcgladrey markets itself as a place where you can have work-life balance (since it's not a Big 4 firm) but this isn't actually true. You work just as many hours as your friends at Big 4 firms, so you might as well have the Big 4 name on your resume (even though Mcgladrey is top 5 nobody recognizes the name).

      Pros

      McGladrey is a stepping stone, not a place where you want to spend your career. McGladrey it is a decent place for the average students to get some experience they can leverage in the accounting industry to get into the big 4. Also, it is a good two year weigh station where good performers from the big 4 can, stop in for two years and bump up thier compensation.

      Cons

      Career advisor systems is a joke, no advice at all really adn the compensation model is a black box. It is VERY political The company cannot decide what it wants to be when it grows up. The upcoming buy out is going to crimp comensation for the foreseeable future

      - Good salary if you don't think of it in terms of an hourly wage - Young Environment is nice

      Cons

      - Hours are a joke (very very very long + weekends) - No one takes time to teach you anything - High turnover rate
