Pros

There are no pros LOL

Cons

RSM claims to care about the culture of the company. When they try to sell you this lie, DO NOT BELIEVE IT! I worked for RSM for under a year, got nothing but stellar performance reviews, worked hard for this company all throughout busy season, and as soon as busy season ended, they did a layoff. No exaggeration the DAY AFTER they no longer needed the busy season help they did the layoff. Not only that, but the layoff was a GROUP WEBINAR CALL, where they laid off the entire group together, no one was able to unmute themselves to ask questions or even turn their cameras on to show their faces. RSM wanted to avoid any and all accountability during this layoff. I have never in my life heard of such unprofessionalism. AVOID this company at all costs!!!

Pros

Study support throughout, although if you fail exams (even by a few %) the HR meetings are stressful. Junior audit team are really nice people and easy to get along with. Good employee benefit scheme - you can get 5-10% discounts for multiple shops. Good experience travelling to multiple client sites, can work on a range of clients in different sectors.

Cons

Audit team has gone downhill over the past few years since key management left. With the current management, you progress on how well your 'face fits' and if you're not liked, management seem to find a way to push you out through telling you you're 'underperforming'. Juniors are constantly pressured and expected to do unpaid overtime and assistant managers are penalised by management if they try to complete work to help those below. The culture really needs improvement - staff shouldn't be crying over their workload and how stressed they feel with management doing nothing about it. Audit trainees who don't have a degree are also paid £3-4k less for doing the same job with the same responsibilities. A few years ago I would have recommended this role to anyone, unfortunately now though due to the attitudes of key management and the way recent staff have been treated I would strongly advise people to look at other audit firms first.
