Pros

Entrepreneurial culture that allows you gain a wide and varied experience with many resume-building projects, lots of passionate and eager people, and constant experimentation and change with the goal of improvement.

Cons

While the overarching brand mission is clear and inspiring, the company needs a more clear business strategy. That shouldn't stop anyone from pursuing a role at R29 -- at the end of the day, its about the journey, not the destination and any role at Refinery29 will be memorable and impactful.

Pros

Amazing fun smart people. Brand that people care about on some level. Despite the clickbait there are good people making good art / content.

Cons

You will work like a dog and if the founders don't like you, you'll never move up.

Pros

Healthy salaries Very good work / life balance (I've heard work life balance used to be a problem in the past, but at least in terms of the tech dept I have zero complaints) Lots of opportunity to try new things/implement new processes Very healthy work environment, I have yet to encounter nastiness, back stabbing, aggression Tech here is 50% women, in my two decades of tech work that has never, ever happened before. A lot of very cool events happen here, all sorts of things you're encouraged to take part in, from the 67% symposium to movie events, to 29Rooms, to live talks about racism & other topics of the day. It's a very inclusive environment, and at least from the tech department, there's no major egos clashing and no one talks over you or dismisses you out right. I honestly don't feel like I'm being challenged 24/7 for being a woman in tech. It's refreshing.

Cons

Has some start-up-ness to the company, they're growing fast and have some growing pains. But I know there's a lot of (good and healthy) process being put into place, insofar as the tech dev side of things go, so I'm not worried.
