Pros

++ Amazing game. Global phenomena. ++ Incredible dedication to player experience. ++ Opportunity to work on cutting edge projects in select departments. ++ Company culture (in theory). Advocates transparency, self reflection, and team work. ++ Work experience for junior employees (new college grads will love this job).

Cons

-- Inexperienced leadership. Rushed decision making and poor personnel management. -- Personal growth. Difficult to find mentors for positions above an associate level. -- Lack of humility. Tone at top prevents honest problem solving for leaders below. -- Work-life balance. Difficult to have a life outside of work. -- Overly social culture leads to group think mentality in day to day decisions. -- Company culture (in practice). Young culture lacks selflessness and mature responses to interpersonal problems. -- Riot Games only has one product, which leads to diminished opportunities and limited career growth.

Pros

-People at the company really love the game -Game is good, sells itself despite mistakes made -Most people generally want to work hard, few exceptions -The touted cultural values are very strong

Cons

-Increasingly reliant on hiring from the outside rather than internal promotion -Career advancement for long time employees increasingly rare -Compensation is abysmal, the expectation is the work environment outweighs the 30% pay cut, Santa Monica is not cheap -Extreme hours, 24/7 crunch, not compensated for it (salaried) -Company did not scale well at all in acquiring staff, grew way too fast, allocation of new hires is schizophrenic

Pros

I worked with an amazing team of smart, creative, collaborative individuals on incredibly innovate content. Loved my team.

Cons

- If you are a blue badge (contractor), you don't get nearly the same kind of benefits as a red badge (full time) employee even if you're working there full time and contributing the same. You aren't treated well as a blue badge and have no safety or security and do not get the acknowledgment of your contribution on the project. - Management, in my experience was awful. Terrible at communication, supporting people who demonstrate poor behavior and management skills, and generally feeling like a second class citizen at the company because I was not a hard core gamer
